LAMPARD KEEN TO BE LIFELONG BLUE

Lampard - no desire to leave Chelsea

Frank Lampard has kicked off Chelsea's campaign for a third consecutive Barclays Premiership title by pledging his future to the Stamford Bridge club for life.

Lampard insists he has no desire to seek out new challenges abroad and intends to play a starring role in the champions' midfield for the remainder of his career.

Lampard said: "I am very happy at the moment and we have real potential to go on and be successful for as long as I am playing football, so that is my aim.

"When I came to Chelsea it was such a big move for me and it has gone so well. A lot of that is down to me working hard but a lot of it is down to what I have got around me at Chelsea.

"I respect that and it has become a real part of me now so I see myself being here for a long time."

Meanwhile Lampard is adamant retaining the Premiership title remains his club's number one priority despite their great desire to achieve Champions League success for the first time.

"The Premier League is always my number one target and I think it is Chelsea's number one target because it is what makes you able to say you are the best team in England," Lampard told BBC Radio Five Live's Sportsweek.

"I want to do that again and there are very few teams who have won it three times on the trot and we would love to be one of them."

Lampard also hopes to form an integral part of Steve McClaren's England evolution and admitted he and his international team-mates went out against Greece last week with plenty to prove.

He added: "We had a real determination from the start. We had a determination to win the World Cup and we didn't do that and we feel that we could have done more and done it better.

"This was about us trying to show that we have the determination to move forward now. It is a new start, it is a squad full of good players and we want to take that next step and become great players in a great team."
